You may have heard about the planned construction of a Bosnian community and cultural center at Lindenhorster Straße 158 in Dortmund-Eving.

As Bosnian Community Dortmund e.V., we would like to introduce ourselves and our idea for a shared meeting place for our members and our neighbors in Eving.

We are a community of Bosnian Muslims from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. Our roots lie along the Adriatic coast. We are neighbors here in Eving and across Europe. The second generation of our families lives in Germany, and our community has been registered in Dortmund since 1982. Our children attend school here, and our members work, run businesses, and are glad to be part of life in Eving.

We want to create a cultural center for our community and a meeting place for everyone in Eving. It will be a place where people of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions can meet and get to know one another. It will welcome young and old alike, as well as anyone who is interested. We also want a place where our community can freely live and practice its faith. We invite you to learn about that faith and, above all, the people behind it.

We are also planning an apartment building with more than ten homes at Lindenhorster Straße 158, helping to provide much-needed housing in Dortmund. The apartments are intended for families with children, young families, and individuals.

It is important to us to involve our neighbors in Eving in our plans and keep the conversation open. Our first neighborhood meeting took place on September 29, 2018. Around 50 neighbors came to learn more about our community, its activities, and the plans for the community and cultural center. It was a great opportunity to meet one another. We want to continue the dialogue and build a welcoming neighborhood together.
